Singapore’s installed solar photovoltaic capacity is projected to rise to around 5.3 GW by 2035, up from nearly 1.6 GW in 2024, positioning solar as the cornerstone of the city-state’s domestic renewable energy strategy. The expansion is expected to support the objectives of the Singapore Green Plan 2030, which targets at least 2 GW of solar capacity by 2030, to achieve greater energy sustainability amid land constraints and the absence of indigenous energy resources in Singapore.
Solar capacity is forecast to grow at a compound annual growth rate of about 11.7 per cent between 2024 and 2035, driven by continued deployment of rooftop, floating, and utility-scale projects, supported by programmes such as SolarNova and financing and credit facilitation schemes.
