KEC International energises a 380 kV transmission line in Saudi Arabia

KEC International has completed and energised a 380 kV double circuit overhead transmission line connecting the Haden photovoltaic and Taif East Governorate bulk supply points in Saudi Arabia. The project involved the construction of approximately 103 km of 380 kV OHTL, supported by 239 transmission towers and is described by the company as one of the most technically challenging transmission line projects executed in the country. The transmission route traverses difficult terrain, including mountainous areas, volcanic rock formations, and hard rock foundations. The project also involved multiple complex crossings and altitude corrections of up to 1,600 metres above sea level, requiring advanced engineering solutions, detailed planning, and disciplined execution to achieve safe and timely completion.
