DERC launches six-month pilot for P2P solar energy trading

The Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) has approved a mechanism to enable peer-to-peer  (P2P) solar energy trading on a six-month pilot basis, with prices on the P2P platform to be discovered between consumers and prosumers.

The commission has also allowed P2P trading at intra-discom, intra-state and inter-state levels, subject to regulatory conditions and approvals. The commission has approved a transaction fee of Rs 0.42 per kWh to be shared equally between buyers and sellers and has waived wheeling charges for P2P transactions within the licensed area of Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited. The wheeling charge waiver will also apply to transactions between intrastate and interstate discoms up to the territorial limits of the National Capital Territory of Delhi. Further, the transaction cap linked to the capacity utilisation factor of installed solar capacity has been removed and penalties for under-injection and under-drawal have been replaced for the duration of the pilot.
