The Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission (RERC) has issued draft resource adequacy regulations aimed at updating the state’s power procurement framework and aligning future capacity planning with evolving demand projections.
The draft has been released ahead of the hearing on the state government’s proposal to procure 3,200 MW through competitive bidding. The draft regulations seek to bring greater clarity to long-term resource planning in Rajasthan, where differing projections by the Central Electricity Authority and the state’s energy assessment committee have created uncertainty over future thermal power requirements. The move is expected to support a more structured approach to procurement as the state also integrates growing renewable energy capacity under schemes such as PM Kusum and PM Surya Ghar.
