The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) released a report on fly ash generation and utilization for grid-connected thermal power stations. The report provides data on fly ash generation and utilization at 189 coal and lignite-based grid-connected thermal power plants in India for 2024-25.
Over the years, through targeted efforts, fly-ash utilization in India has risen from 10% since 1996-97 to 96.34% in 2024-25. Nevertheless, additional efforts are needed to reach 100% fly ash usage across the country. In this regard, the report is anticipated to facilitate robust planning, utilization and coordination among thermal power plants in effective management of fly ash for upcoming years.
