State Grid Xizang Electric Power Company Limited, a subsidiary of State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), has commenced construction of the Xizang section of the ±800 kV Tibet–Guangdong ultra-high voltage direct current (UHVDC) transmission project in China.
The project involves the development of a 2,681-km, ±800 kV UHVDC transmission line to transmit electricity from Tibet (Xizang autonomous region) to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay area via Yunnan province and Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region. The project has a transmission capacity of 10 GW and entails a total investment of CNY53.2 billion.
