The Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) has awarded a contract to Atkins’s power and renewables unit for providing technical advisory services for the Power 2021 Procurement Cycle Project in the sultanate. The scope of work includes a site selection strategy for an 800 MW power project, and for drafting the project definition report and competition paper. Atkins will also support OPWP by evaluating developer pre-qualification submisions, assisting it in finalising the shortlisted developers and awarding the contract to the successful bidder. The current demand for power in the region is 6,000 MW. Therefore, the addition of 800 MW is being considered as a significant one.
