The Kerala State Electricity Regulatory Commission has notified draft regulations on the power quality for distribution systems. The draft specifies that distribution licensees should meet the quality parameters set by the commission with regard to seven major aspects of power supply at the consumers’ end. These aspects are supply voltage variations, supply voltage flicker, supply voltage unbalance, supply voltage dips and swells, supply voltage harmonics, supply interruptions and current harmonics (to be controlled by the designated customers). A public hearing on the draft regulations has already been conducted.
