Malaysia’s SEB launches the REC mechanism

The Malaysian utility Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) has launched the renewable energy certificate (REC) mechanism to encourage the development and consumption of clean energy in the state. RECs will be awarded to individuals or corporations as proof that they are utilising energy generated from renewable sources such as solar, wind and hydropower. Each REC awarded will represent environmental benefits of 1 MWh of renewable energy generation.
