Coal supply to power sector by CIL rises by 22.7 per cent

The supply of coal to the power sector by Coal India Limited (CIL) has risen by 22.7 per cent to 291.72 mt between April to October in the fiscal year 2021-22.

During the same period for 2020-21, CIL had dispatched 237.75 mt coal to the power sector. Coal supply to the power sector by CIL during October 2021 also increased by 21.7 per cent to 47.67 MT vis-a-vis 39.17 mt in October 2020. CIL accounts for over 80 per cent of the domestic coal output. Coal supply by Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) to the power sector between April to October increased 66 per cent to 30.67 mt in 2021-22 as against 18.47 mt in 2020-21. The coal supply by SCCL to the power sector during October 2021 increased 41.7 per cent to 4.71 mt from 3.32 mt in October 2020.
