Coal-based power generation increases by 16 per cent in April-October 2021

Coal-based power generation has increased by 16.1 per cent to 594.4 BUs during April-October, 2021 over 511.9 BUs recorded the same period a year ago.

During the same period, there was an energy deficit stood at 0.5 per cent or 3,889 MU. The total energy supplied during this period was 817,816 MU as against the energy requirement of 821,705 MU. The weighted average rate of sale of power by coal-based power plants during 2019-20 was about Rs 3.97 per kWh as against Rs 3.84 per kWh during 2018-19, an increase of about 3.4 per cent.
