India’s peak power supply touches record level of 207GW on April 29, 2022

India’s peak power demand met or the highest supply in a day touched the all-time high of 207.11 GW at 14:50 hours on April 29, 2022 amid ongoing heatwave in the country leading to increasing demand for electricity.

The peak power demand had touched 204.65 GW on April 28, 2022, and 201.06 GW on April 26, 2022, when it had surpassed last year’s maximum demand met of 200.53 GW on July 7, 2021. The demand for power is expected to rise further in coming days as the weather department has predicted stronger heatwave.The demand is expected to reach about 215-220 GW in months of May-June 2022.
