PLN commissions a floating power plant in Indonesia

PT PLN (Persero), a state-owned utility, has commenced operations on a 561kWp floating solar power plant in Semarang, Indonesia.

The floating power plant will be operated by PLN Indonesia Power (PLN IP), a PLN subsidiary, and is part of a 920 kWp floating solar project, which is currently under construction . The solar plant will generate around 1.4 million kWh of renewable energy annually and will offset up to 1,304 tonnes of carbon emissions per year. The floating solar power plant has been built on a 1 hectare water pond with a total construction time of 8 months.
