AmpIn Energy signs PPA for Nagpur metro’s 6 MW solar project

In a recent development, AmpIn Energy Transition Privated Limited has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for a 6 MWp solar project with the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL) for the Nagpur Metro Rail Project.

The PPA spans 25 years and marks AmpIn’s third solar project for a metro rail, representing its inaugural venture in Maharashtra. MMRCL, a special purpose company sponsored jointly by the Maharashtra government and the Union government in 2015, oversees the implementation of all metro projects in  Maharashtra outside the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The 6 MWp solar project will be developed in two packages of 2.5 MWp and 3.5 MWp, distributed across 19 sites. By integrating solar power, the project is anticipated to replace approximately 36 per cent of grid power for Nagpur Metro, resulting in a substantial 41 per cent savings per unit.
