Reportedly, Iran Power Generation Transmission & Distribution Management Company (Tavanir) has invested USD332 million to strengthen the power grid system and boost the nation’s electricity production capacity and reliability.
The company is working on the addition of 1,294 km of transmission lines and 7,605 MVA substation capacity to power plants. These include 12 transmission projects initiated by the company in September 2023 to support upcoming small hydro projects. The current energy profile of Iran displays a potential of 93,024 MW, which includes 75,767 MW from thermal power plants, 12,144 MW from hydroelectric plants, 2,485 MW from retail power plants, 1,141 MW from renewable sources, 1,020 MW from the Bushehr nuclear power plant, and 408 MW of diesel blocks.
