ERDA inaugurates advanced solar inverter testing facility in Gujarat

The Electrical Research and Development Association (ERDA) has inaugurated a solar inverter test facility at its premises in Gujarat. The advanced laboratory is designed to support mandatory inverter testing in compliance with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) guidelines and the quality control order issued by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. The facility is capable of testing and evaluating solar inverters up to the 250 kilovolt ampere class and aims to serve manufacturers, research and development institutes, small-scale industries and distribution utilities. The facility supports a wide range of testing capabilities, including anti-islanding protection as per International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 62116/Indian Standard (IS) 16169; maximum power point tracking and conversion efficiency as per IEC 62891/IS 17980 and EN 50530; and grid connectivity assessments, including low voltage ride-through, high voltage ride-through, fault ride-through and power quality. The facility can test both grid-tied (string and central inverters) and off-grid
solar inverters.
