Bangladesh pays Adani Power’s USD 437 million dues

Bangladesh has paid pending dues of USD437 million to Adani Power Limited in June 2025 and has resolved payment concerns of the Godda plant in its generation portfolio.

Reportedly, the payment includes carrying costs and amounts related to the power purchase agreement. The country has also established a sovereign guarantee for all dues and a letter of credit equivalent to two months of billing. Following the settlement, the Bangladesh Power Development Board has instructed Adani Power to resume supply from both units of the 1,600 MW Godda plant in Jharkhand. Over the past few months, Bangladesh had been making monthly payments of USD90–100 million. With payment risks now mitigated, lenders are reportedly confident of a credit rating upgrade for Adani Power Limited from AA to AA+. The company continues to supply among the most cost-competitive power to Bangladesh.
