Kenya expands transmission network under 2030 grid master plan

Kenya Electricity Transmission Company is expanding its transmission network in the eastern region as part of the national 2030 energy master plan to enhance grid reliability and supply security.

A key project under construction is the 65-km, 132 kV Kitui–Wote line, which will introduce dual supply sources from Wote and Kindaruma to strengthen N-1 contingency capability. The line is a section of the 152.62-km, 132 kV Mwingi–Kitui–Wote–Sultan Hamud corridor, being developed under the Kenya Power Transmission System Improvement Project.
