Saudi Arabia connects 7.8 GWh battery energy storage to national grid

Saudi Arabia has connected 7.8 GWh of battery energy storage capacity to its power grid, marking one of the largest operational battery energy storage system deployments globally once fully energised.

The project has been supplied by China-based Sungrow Power Supply and is expected to deliver annual charging and discharging capacity of around 2.2 billion kWh. The deployment involves more than 1,500 PowerTitan 2.0 units installed across three locations Najran, Khamis Mushait and Madaya.
