The Andhra Pradesh government has rolled out its first electric vehicle (EV) policy. The state has a target of attracting an investment of Rs 300 billion in EV manufacturing and deploying 1 million EVs in the next five years. The policy will provide a complete reimbursement of the road tax and registration fees on the sale of EVs till 2024, stamp duty for the purchase/lease of land and state GST. Additionally, it will provide a 10 per cent subsidy for the first two car manufacturing firms. The policy aims to replace public transport buses with electric buses across four cities by 2024, and across the state by 2030.
