Kerala secures Rs 8.17 billion loan from KfW for GEC projects

Kerala has secured Rs 8.17 billion loan from KfW for implementation of green energy corridor (GEC) projects of Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) Limited.

The state government is implementing the GEC projects at an estimated cost of Rs 14.57 billion. Out of this, Rs 8.17 billion will be sourced from KfW, Rs 2.90 billion from KSEB, and  Rs 3.50 billion will come from the centre as grant. The North Green Corridor (NGC) project will cost Rs 9.11 billion, the remaining Rs 2.34 billion and Rs 3.11 billion will be spent for commissioning of Ramakkalmedu Green Corridor (RGC) in Idukki and Attappady Green Corridor (AGC) in Palghat, respectively. The NGC project is for the evacuation of solar power from Kasargod solar park, whereas RGC and AGC are for wind power projects. The GEC projects will have a commissioning timeline of 24 months from the award of works.
