South Africa has been making significant strides in dealing with its energy crisis through partnerships with other BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) nations, to improve its power infrastructure.
The New Development Bank (NDB), at its recent annual meeting, announced its plans to assist South Africa in financing and constructing 14,000 km of additional electricity transmission lines required by 2030 due to the expected increase in renewable energy generation to 55 GW by 2032. NDB has already committed up to USD5 billion to aid South Africa’s energy transition, drawing on experiences from China, Brazil, and India, which have advanced in their own transitions.
