The Prime Minister has laid the foundation stone for the Nabinagar super thermal power project stage-II (3×800 MW) in Aurangabad, Bihar.
The project is being developed by NTPC Limited at an estimated cost of Rs 299.48 billion and is based on ultra-supercritical technology. The plant is expected to enhance electricity supply to Bihar and other beneficiary states including Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, and Punjab. It will feature a dry bottom ash handling system and air-cooled condenser to minimise freshwater consumption. Under the PM-KUSUM scheme, farmers are being provided with opportunities to generate income through solar energy, while renewable agriculture feeders are supplying electricity to farms, further improving agricultural productivity.
