Adani Group evaluates nuclear power to support expansion of AI data centres in India

Reportedly, Adani Group is planning a major expansion of its artificial intelligence data centre business in India, with proposed capacities exceeding 1 GW across multiple locations including Visakhapatnam, Navi Mumbai, Noida, and Hyderabad.

The group is also scaling up the energy infrastructure required to support these facilities, as demand for AI-driven data centres has surpassed earlier projections.

To meet the high power requirements, the group intends to rely primarily on its renewable energy portfolio through Adani Green Energy, while also evaluating nuclear power as a long-term baseload option. According to the company, nuclear energy is being assessed to ensure round-the-clock power supply as data centre capacity scales up, with a model under which Adani would own and operate power plants while reactor construction would be undertaken by specialised partners.
