Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power Company Limited, has commissioned a 100 MW group captive solar project at Vellalankottai and Nalandhula villages in Kayathar, Tamil Nadu.
The project will supply clean power to three Tata group companies. TP Solar Limited will receive 40.625 MW, Tata Electronics Private Limited will receive 53.125 MW, and Tata Realty and Infrastructure Limited will receive 6.25 MW. The project uses 261,660 mono PERC bifacial solar modules and is equipped with flexible terrain compatible single-axis tracker technology. This is the first deployment of the technology for a Tata project in India. The generated power will be transmitted through the Kayathar 400 kV grid substation. With the commissioning, TPREL’s utility renewable energy portfolio has increased to 12.3 GW, while its operational capacity has crossed 7 GW.
